Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out to examine the relationship between kinesiophobia and functional parameters in elderly people living in nursing homes. Our study includes the examination of age, balance, fear of falling, activities of daily living, physical activity and physical individuals associated with kinesophobia. This study included 48 elderly people with a mean age of 76.02 ± 8.30 years and an age range of 61-93 years. The cognitive functions of the elderly individuals participating in the study with the Mini Mental State Test; pain intensity by Visual Analogue Scale; kinesiophobia levels were measured by the Tampa Kinesophobia Scale; balance confidence levels with Activity Specific Balance Confidence Scale; fear of falling was determined by Falling Efficiency Scale; daily life and instrumental daily life activities with Bartel Daily Living Activities Index and Lawton-Brody Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Scale; quality of life levels with Nottingham Health Profile; physical activities with the Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly; Their physical fitness was evaluated with the Senior Fitness Test. In addition to these, the socio-demographic characteristics of the cases were also recorded. According to the results of the study, it was found that the balance confidence level of the elderly with low kinesophobia level increased and their fear of falling decreased(p<0.05). At the same time, it was determined that as the level of kinesiophobia increased, their dependency in daily life and instrumental daily life activities increased and their quality of life decreased (p<0.05). In addition, as the level of physical activity and physical fitness increased, a decrease was found in the level of kinesophobia (p<0.05). High age, female gender and increased BMI have been shown to increase kinesophobia (p<0.05). There is a relationship between kinesiophobia and pain (p<0.05). In our study, it was determined that kinesiophobia levels of elderly people are an important health problem related to functional parameters.
