"Curiosity" according to Ibni Tufeyl, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Bertrand Russell and John Dewey

The aim of this study is to examine the works of Ibn Tufeyl, John Dewey, Bertrand Russell and Jean Jacques Rousseau in depth in terms of "curiosity" and to evaluate the adaptation of curiosity to education as a synthesis based on these works. Ibn Tufeyl, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Bertrand Russell and John Dewey who known as important Enlightenment thinkers have ideas that are very original and require a thorough examination in terms of their contributions to education and their importance to the sense of curiosity in education. In addition, it was found that these thinkers expressed value in curiosity, put curiosity in the forefront, and the concept of curiosity made itself apparent in the works. Therefore, it is thought that it would be useful to look at the "curiosity" concept, which is the building block of our research, through the eyes of these four important thinkers and look at their works from this perspective. The method of the study is a qualitative research. This study aimed at detecting curiosity in the works of Ibn Tufeyl, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Bertrand Russell and John Dewey. In this study, document analysis method which is one of the data collection techniques is used in qualitative research. Descriptive and content analysis were used in the analysis of the data.In the second part of our study, The concept of "curiosity'' which is the subject of our study was mentioned and we examined curiosity in terms of psychology, sociology, philosophy, science and education. We discussed the lifes and works of Ibn Tufeyl, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Bertrand Russell and John Dewey. In the findings of the third chapter, under the title of curiosity in terms of education, we examined the adaptation of curiosity to education by synthesizing and evaluating curiosity perspectives in the works of Ibn Tufeyl, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Bertrand Russell and John Dewey, which shed light on today's educational philosophy.
