Özet (EN)

Urine cultures of 36,396 patients sent to Adıyaman University Training and Research Hospital Medical Microbiology Culture Laboratory by various clinics in 2019 were evaluated. After the samples were inoculated, they were incubated, and then conventional tests were performed considering the colony morphology. Antibiotic sensitivity results were reported with the automatic antibiotic sensitivity device. At least one microorganism grew in 5,597 (15.37%) of the patient samples. There was no reproduction in 30,799 (84.63%). 3,739 (66.8%) of the patients were women and 1,858 (33.2%) were men. 88.8% of the growing microorganisms were detected as gram negative, 8.18% as gram positive, and 3.02% as yeast. Escherichia coli (66.82%) was the most frequently growing gram-negative bacteria, while Enterococcus faecalis/faecium (51.96%) was the most frequently growing gram-positive bacteria. The most frequently growing yeast was Candida albicans (71%). The most sensitive antibiotics against Escherichia coli were amikacin and imipenem, while the most resistant antibiotics were ampicillin and amoxicillin/clavulanate. For Enterococcus faecalis/faecium, the most sensitive antibiotics were linezolid and vancomycin, while the most resistant antibiotics were erythromycin and cefoxitin. As a result, determining the diversity and susceptibility of microorganisms grown in urine cultures helps us understand their impact on infections.
