Examining the children's books of İhmal Amca in terms of children's literature and Turkish education

In this study, which is based on the analysis of the children's books of Vartan İhmalyan, known as İhmal Amca in our children's literature, in terms of children's literature and Turkish education, four fairy tales titled Şeytan Uçurtması, Güneşe Vurgun Çocuk, Eşek Eşekken, Boyalı Kırlangıç, and a short story book titled Pencereme Konmuştu were analysed. In the first part of the study, the theoretical framework, in the second part, İhmal Amca's life and works, and in the third part, İhmal Amca's works were analysed and evaluated in terms of children's literature and Turkish education. İhmal Amca's works were analysed under the headings of subject, theme, cast of characters, plan, language and expression, environment, message and value in terms of content, and under the headings of size, paper, cover-binding, page layout, lettering and picture in terms of design. As a result of the examination, it was determined that İhmal Amcal's works of children's literature are suitable for 9-14 years old primary school second level students (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades). The prominent values in the analysed works are cooperation, sharing, freedom, justice and love.
