The organizations make their strategic plans for the future in accordance with their mission and vision. For these plans the strategic targets are identified. Then, the firms constitute and use their internal processes to realize these targets. However, it must be controlled that whether the firms make their activities accordingly. Moreover, it is seen that internal audit is so important for the firms to attain the targets based on the strategic plans. Thus, in this study, the effects of the different internal audit systems on the strategic planning were presented. In this scope, the rates of the strategic target attainments for a defence company in a time that independent internal audit had been performed for the Project Management were analysed. These data was compared with the data acquired during the time which only organic internal audit had been made again for the Project Management. Also the improvements had been made after the independent were analysed. Therefore, according to results, it was shown that the rates of the independent audit were more valuable than the rates of the organic internal audit. Therefore, the independent audit system has a positive effect on the company for reaching their goals. Besides, this study is important as it has shown the effects of the independent audit system in terms of the internal audit.
