Abstract (EN)

European countries, which developed economically, culturally and industrially, entered the race for colonialism and organized a conference in Berlin, sharing many countries among themselves. The two states that had the biggest share in the colonial race, England and France, acted in their own interests and the Ottoman lands were largely colonized. One of the most important reasons why the Ottoman Empire was subjected to colonialism was that it did not renew itself in the field of military and technology, could not keep up with technology, and was under the influence of a segment that did not allow the printing press to develop. Italy completed its development late and quickly started colonialism and set its sights on Tripoli. Due to the lack of a navy in Tripoli, Tripoli could not be defended at sea and the Italians were fought on land. Young officers who were willing to defend themselves from land secretly went to Tripoli via Egypt, and our young officers, especially Enver Pasha, wrote epics. Italy could not go from the coastal areas to the inner regions and wanted to make peace by appealing to the great powers. Italy, which was in favor of peace, did not give up on the occupation. The Ottoman Empire was forced to sign the Treaty of Ushi following the outbreak of the Balkan Wars. Thus, Tripoli, the last Ottoman territory in North Africa, was lost, and then the 12 islands given to Italy to be given to the Ottomans were also lost.
