Abstract (EN)
Climate change is one of the main global environmental problems that threaten the world. This problem affects the unpredictable population growth, disruption of the production and consumption balance of natural resources, and livability. The recent increase in various natural disasters and epidemics are some of the most important indicators of the changing balance. While regional and urban areas are the biggest reason for this change, they are also the victims. As cities develop, diversified human activities create problems that are harmful to nature. World leaders and scientists are greatly concerned about the acceleration of climate change and the adverse effects affecting the life and health of living things. The importance of the issue is increasing, and national and international studies focus on climate change adaptation and mitigation practices within the framework of sustainability. It is expected that the effects of climate change on a regional and urban scale in Turkey will be reflected differently in line with spatial characteristics. Precipitation will increase in the TR90 Eastern Black Sea Region with the effects of climate change. In parallel with this, there will increase in floods and overflows. The aim of this thesis is to reveal the interaction of climate change with regional and urban areas, to analyze its effects on the TR90 Region, and to determine the proposed strategies that can be produced within the city and regional planning discipline. In this regard, first of all, the relationship between the concept of climate change and sustainability is revealed and studies carried out in the world and examples are mentioned. The reflections of the issue in Turkey and its treatment in the literature are examined on a regional scale. In the TR90 Region, which was selected as the study area, the dimensions of climate change are revealed through analysis and the current strategies in the planning hierarchy are determined. Finally, the question of how to achieve better with suggested strategies is discussed.
