Abstract (EN)

The aim of the research is to comparatively examine the religious education of the students of the faculty of theology and madrasah. This study was conducted using ethnography, one of the qualitative research methods. The population of the research consists of students receiving religious education at the Faculty of Theology in the province of Siirt in the Southeastern Anatolia Region and in Madrasahs in certain regions. The sample of the research consists of 40 students selected from the population using the "non-random purposeful sampling" method. A semi-structured interview form consisting of open-ended questions developed by the researcher was used to collect data in the study. Content analysis technique was used to analyze the data collected from the participants. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the students' views on religious education were knowing God, divine message, moral rules, religious necessity, salvation and satisfying the soul. Other results obtained in the research are as follows: "Equipment is one of the main reasons why students choose the institution where they receive religious education for the faculty of theology. Madrasa students want to receive religious education in madrasahs in order to get detailed information. Students studying in madrasahs begin their madrasah education largely with the guidance of their families. The most frequently expressed expression about the impact of technological developments on the institution of the Faculty of Theology, where students receive religious education, is the ease of access to information. For the faculty of theology, students stated that they had a moderate communication with their friends and teachers at the institution. In addition, some students think that they communicate with their friends and teachers sincerely, based on love and respect. For the madrasa institution, the majority of students stated that they had strong communication with their friends and teachers at the institution. "In students' opinions regarding which of the institutions where they receive religious education is more beneficial, the dominant opinion is that the faculty of theology is more beneficial than madrasahs for the faculty of theology." As a result of the research, it is suggested that educators examine the madrasahs in the east and the schools in the west, with the idea that it may create an idea about directing education and the curriculum.
