Abstract (EN)

Development of social life has caused increment in reactive power consumption in residential areas. It is obvious that the overloading of the line due to increased reactive power should be prevented in order not to cause high power losses and voltage drops. Therefore, TCSC are prevalently used in transmission systems in order to solve these problems. The main role of Thyristor Controlled Serial Capacitor (TCSC) technology in the transmission network is to increase the line voltage level, minimize the power loss, increase transmission capacity. In previous studies, the appropriate location and value is selected according to the optimal location and value experience of the Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC). Therefore, a new optimization method is important to find the most suitable location and size of the TCSC. At the same time, the best location and the best TCSC size can minimize the loss of the transmission network. In this study, using standard PSO, inertia weight PSO and for the new method using constraint coefficient PSO to minimize power loss, it presents the optimum position and value of Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC) in the power system. Simulations were analyzed using the Newton Raphson load flow method, including the IEEE 14 bus system and the IEEE 30 bus system with TCSC. KeyWords: TCSC, CCPSO, Newton Raphson Load Flow Method
