Success of primary school 5th grade students? in social sciences lesson and the reletionship between the learning styles

In this study the learning styles of the primary school students? were determined and whether there is a meaningful difference between the learning styles and in terms of students? success of social sciences were determined. Besides students? learning styles show any meaningful difference in terms of gender, education place, mother?s eduction level, father?s eduation level, family?s socioeconomic levels and most favorite lesson varations were searched. The srch which is in scnning model was carried out in Ağrı, Patnos during 2009 ? 2010 eucation term at primary schools with 370 5th grade students. As data collecting devices Personal Information Form, Kolb learning style inventory, and 2009 ? 2010 education term 1st term social sciences final grades are used. During analysis of the data identifying statistics methods (Frequency, Percentage, Avarage score, Standard variation) anova, chi-square hyphothesis tests were used. The results below were achieved:?It was concluded that the learning style of students in elementary school 5th grade was 47.8% I. type (changed), 23% II.Tip (with assimilation), 13.8% III.Tip (separation), 15.4% of the IV.Tip (put).?The significiant relationship between Students' learning styles and social studies course achievement were found. According to the difference among mean values, the average of social studies achievement grade of students who had III. Type (separation) learning style was higher than that of students who had Type I (changing) learning style.?The ralationship between Students' learning styles and the variabilities such as gender, the most popular courses (mathematical courses-other courses, skills courses and culture classes), maternal education level, parental education level, monthly family income and school location (county town-village) was not statistically significant. .Keywords: Learning, Learning Styles, Social Studies, Success,
