Evaluation of primary education 5.grade social studies textbook in accordance with teacher opinions

Dr. İbrahim ÖZGÜL June 2016, 107 pages Aim of the researcher is evaluation of fifth grade social studies textbook used in 2015-2016 school year in Ağrı in accordance with various criteria. These criteria; analyzing in terms of stylistic, content, language elements used in textbook and assessment and evaluation of textbook. Teacher questionnaires are used in this research to achieve a result and provide data. The questionnaires conducted in Ağrı city centre and districts Tutak and Patnos in 38 secondary school to 55 social studies teachers. Data the research provided expected to serve the field. Textbooks are important part of education in our country. This not only valid for our country. In almost all of the developed, developing and underdeveloped countries textbooks are one of the most important materials of education. Nowadays textbooks used in developed countries moved towards more of an electronic dimension. No matter how much the technology advances textbooks always maintained its presence. While as it was tablets made of clay in the beginning and even gained an electronic dimension nowadays; mainstream textbooks always maintained its presence. The aim of this research is evaluation of textbooks as one of the most important material in education. As they are the practitioners of them, analyzing textbooks according to teacher's opinions are thought to be useful. According to results of research done; it is found that teachers have a positive opinion on the textbooks in terms of stylistic, content, language elements. It is also found that teachers find the textbook inadequate in terms of assessment and evaluation. Keywords: Social Studies, Textbook, Curriculum, Education.
