The evaluation of elementary mathematics teachers' classroom management self-efficacy perception (Example of Diyarbakır city)

The purpose of this research is to determine the elementary-school mathematics? teachers classroom management self-efficacy perception. In order to determinet the perceptions of the self-efficacy in mathematics teachers' classroom management Classroom Management Self-Efficacy Scale has been developed by the researcher. Classroom Management Self-Efficacy Scale consists of two parts. In the first chapter, there are 'personalin formation' section, math teachers?gender, profession,seniority, class size, and the articles on the weekly course. The second part of the data collection tool, is SIYÖY Scale. SIYÖY Scale is divided into fivesub-headings. 41 items are taking part in the scale.The developed data collection tool, is selected randomly from 40 primary schools of the city center of Diyarbakir and applied to 142 maths teachers. The five sub-headings and the data obtained from the survey, the variotions of gender, profession, seniority, class size and the weekly course load which is in the SIYÖY scale have been analyzed.Data analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe and LSD tests have been used. Maths teachers see themselves adequate in classroom management in the physical layout of the class, the plan-program of activities, time order, behavior regulation, the regulation of relationships in the classroom. The results show that,in the variable of gender, male-teachers saw themselves more adequate than female-maths teachers in the behavior regulation and the physical layout of the class; in the variable of termination teachers with more years of service saw themselves enough in plan-program activities, regulation of behavior; in thev ariable of classroom size, decreasing the number of students in class made the teachers to see themselves more adequate in the physical layout oft he class and behavior regulation; in the variable of weekly course load, the maths teachers in each groups saw themselves adequate. Maths teachers see themselves competent in classroom management self-efficacy, male-teachers are more effective than in ensuring discipline, teachers with more years of service are being effective planning, and action, as class size reduction in the number of students in teachers' self-efficacy have a positive effect.
