Abstract (EN)

The classroom, which is one of the educational spaces where the child spends the most time, is at the center of the child's educatio lfe as a space used in and outside the classroom. In primary education structures, classrooms are expected to provide appropriate conditions for the child's leisure time activities, as well as being the enviroment where academic knowledge is given. From this point of view, it is aimed to determine the leisure behavior of children in the classroom and the support of the classroom space to these behaviors. The opinions of the students and educators who are the users of the space are decisive in accessing multidimensional information about leisure time activities in the classrooms In the research, 154 3rd and 4th grade students studying in Artvin city center and 18 education were studied. A questionnaire and picture application was applied to the students, and a semi-structured interview form was applied to the educators. The obtained forms were subjected to content analysis, one of the qualitative research designs, and the obtained data were analyzed as themes, sub-themes and codes. In this study, it was concluded that the students actively use the classroom during recess and they mostly exhibit the behaviors of playing games, resting, chatting, reading books and painting in the classrooms. As a result of the on-site investigations, it has been seen that the existing classrooms are far from the equipment to meet the behaviors and wishes of the students. As a result of the study, design criteria for programming leisure time in schools were obtained.
