Abstract (EN)

Considering the requirements of our age, coding and robotics education has gained great importance in our country as well as in the whole world. With this importance, it has become a necessity to prepare content suitable for children in education about coding. The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of primary school students who receive coding education towards coding education in terms of various variables. The importance of this study is that, as a result of the findings obtained from the study, it is thought that the educational content prepared on the basis of student attitudes can increase the effectiveness of both teachers and students in coding education. In the study, the "Screening Model" method based on Quantitative Research Method was applied. The study was conducted with 834 4th grade students who are studying in Ağrı province in the 2020-2021 academic year. In this study, the "Attitude Scale for Coding Education (ASCE)" consisting of 41 items and a personal information form developed by the researcher was used. In the analysis of the data, frequency analyses for the demographic characteristics of the students, analysis of the reliability and central distribution criteria of the scale, Mann Whitney U analyses and Kruskal Wallis analyses were applied by using the statistical package program. According to the results of the analysis, a significant difference was found between attitudes of students towards coding education in terms of "having computer or not, their family's economic status, whether coding education is easy, their thoughts about coding would make it easier to find work in the future, thoughts that coding could be used in daily life, and thoughts of using what they learned in coding class in other courses", and no significant difference was found in terms of other variables.
