The level of getting the skill to read chart and diagram of the fourth grade students of primary school in the social studies class

Consistently developing technology has affected the teaching programs. The skills that did not exist in the social studies program previously, now exist in the new program. The general aim of this research is to survey in various variables in what levels the students accomplish there a ding skills of charts and diagrams that has been aimed to attain in the "From Production to Consumption" unit that is in the learning field of "Production, Consumptionand Distribution" to the fourth grade students in social studies class. The survey has been made according to the scanning model of the quantitative research methods.The academic performance test that has been prepared by the researcher as a data gathering tool was applied to 215 students from seven urban schools and 77 students from fourrural schools, totally 292 fourth grade students from 11 schools in Kahramanmaraş city. With the aim of obtaining the findings of the research, in the dependent groups, ANNOVA has been made to determine the disparity, Scheffe tests have been made to determine the different group and in the independent groups, t-test analysis has been made as a result of these analysises: There a ding skills of charts and diagrams of students is determined to be a bit under the middle level ( =9.96). In the case of variables, there a ding skills of charts and diagrams of the female students ( =10,73), is found high in a significant level (t=2.76, p=.006<.05), in comparison with the male students ( =9.25). Thestudent of highereducated mothers are found to be more successful (F= 9.8, p=.000<.05). Like wise, the students of higher educated fathers are found to be more succesful (F=10.6, p=.000<.05). As well as these, students living in the cities ( =10.47) are seen to be more successful in a significant level (t=-3.190, p=.002<.05), in comparison with the students living in the villages ( =8.55). Furthermore, it is determined that there is a significant difference (F=9.6, p=.000<.05), in the academic success of the students according to the family in come level and this difference is in favor of the students whose family in come level is 2500 TL and above 2500 TL.
