Abstract (EN)

Organizations stem from the cooperation need of human beings. People create organizational culture by realizing their aims, which they cannot make them come true on their own, by cooperation. In our era in which there is constant change and development, organizations are getting bigger and more complex. New developments in technology increase the need for new knowledge and skills both as organizational and individual. It must be ensured that all decisions to be taken in an organizational culture are understood clearly and completely by all staff. Nowadays, "educational organizations" conserve their places in the center while some societies have converted themselves into information society and some others are still having problems in changing into it. Hence, the aim of this research is to detect effect of organizational culture of teachers and principals working at Primary and Secondary Schools in Bergama, Izmir on organizational change. In this research, the effect of the organizational culture -belonging to an organization in which the teachers work at Primary or Secondary Schools - on organizational change was detected by descriptive method. Study group of the research consist of teachers and principals working at Primary and Secondary Schools in Bergama, Izmir. The sample of the research consists of 256 teachers and principals. For data collection, "Scale for Detection of Organizational Culture in Primary Schools" developed by Terzi (2005) and "Measuring Survey for Teachers' Attitudes towards Organizational Change" developed by Ordu (2006) were used. Relation between demographic variables like gender, marital status, age, seniority, and branch were analyzed via these scales. In the analysis of the data obtained, Independent groups' t test, one way variance analysis (ANOVA), and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient statistical techniques were used. According to the results of this study, it was found that there is a positive, low and significant relationship between organizational culture and organizational change. Besides, when demographic features of the principals and teachers about organizational culture and organizational change were considered and it was found that there are some differences among sub-dimensions of organizational culture and organizational change scales.
