Teacher and parents' opinions on the education program in primary schools (İYEP)

This study was conducted in order to examine the opinions of the primary school teachers and the parents of the students' who took part in the Education Program in Primary Schools (İYEP) in the 2019-2020 academic year. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used in the research. The study group of the research consists of 96 class teachers working in primary schools in Adıyaman city center in the 2019-2020 academic year, and the parents of 10 students who attended IYEP at a state primary school. The survey model was used in the quantitative process of the research, and the case study method was used in the qualitative dimension. In the study, the data were collected by using the 30-item Educational Program Evaluation Questionnaire in Primary Schools, which consists of expressions suitable for the CIPP curriculum evaluation model, for the opinions of teachers, and the semi-structured Parent Interview Form for the opinions of the parents. The survey model was used in the quantitative dimension of the study, and the case study method was used in the parent dimension. The data of the Education Program Evaluation Questionnaire in Primary Schools were analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package program. Parent Interview Form data was analyzed using content analysis method. As a result of the related analysis, teachers agreed that the IYEP's assessment of the context, input, process and product dimensions served the purpose of the program. Parents said that the IYEP contributes positively to the students in a cognitive and psychosocial way, while it is poor in planning, class diversity and documentation.
