Özet (EN)

The English Parliament and the constitutional system of the United Kingdom, which are seen as examples of examples, offer a rich field of study in terms of comparative constitutional law with their sui generis structure. The English constitution is the best-known example of the unwritten constitution in constitutional law doctrine. The principle of parliamentary sovereignty has long prevailed in British constitutional law, which does not have a codified constitution. However, the United Kingdom has introduced a number of important constitutional reforms over the last few decades, including devolution to Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the incorporation of the European Convention on Human Rights into domestic law, and the establishment of a new Supreme Court. As a result, the new constitutional landscape appears to be more complex than before. Exploring the modern challenges that undermine the structure of the principle of parliamentary sovereignty, our study covers some of the key theoretical debates about the changing nature of the constitution, including the argument that the principle of parliamentary sovereignty may now be considered outdated and less important a concept in the British constitution than it once was.
