Turkey from innovation and regional development perspective

Increasing innovation performances of regions is to contribute economical and social development by providing increase of welfare level. Regions in increasing their innovation performances, information, technology and learning processes are to be effective. At this point, if a region does how much innovation, welfare and quality of life show increasing, too. For working our region innovation systematically, companies in the region need cooperation with public institutions, civil society organizations and other organizations. So regions may increase their competitions in the global market by developing new ideas, skills and technology. Innovation systems should be improved for the potential and needs of regions for the regional development. For this, research and development activities and innovation should take leading role and streghten its production structure and regional development should be provided. The aim of this working is to bring out the contribution of innovation to the regional development of Turkey and regions by using innovation compounds such as education, structure, transportation, trade, scientific puplications, essay, patent, brand, science and technology. For this purpose, the differences of regions have been brought out by using subcomponents of innovation input and output indicators of 12 regions and 26 regions and Turkey which are Statistical Territorial Units Classification Level-1 and Level-2. Innovation has been explained conceptual in the first working. In the second part, regional development has been explained conceptual frame. In the third part, the components of innovation have been evaluated in terms of innovation and regional development.
