Abstract (EN)

The increase in industrial and construction activities in the world and in Turkey causes greenhouse gases to concentrate in the atmosphere. Global warming and the consequences of climate change threaten the living life on earth. The increasing energy demands of the industrial sectors bring along the rapid depletion of natural resources and directly affect the living standards of future generations. In order to prevent environmental problems with new practices, the concept of sustainability has been introduced. Within the scope of this thesis, studies on expanding the carbon footprint in the construction sector and the role of sustainability affecting the living space, primarily in environmental protection and natural resource use, are evaluated. In the last 20 years, studies on civil engineering practices, limiting the carbon footprint and reusing waste with different durability have been evaluated. The studies that need to be done to expand this synthesis study, to limit the carbon footprint of civil engineering applications and to make them sustainable have been examined and reached in some chapters.
