Health perceptions and health promotion behaviors of workers working in construction sites: A descriptive and correlational study

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to determine the health perceptions and health promotion behaviors of workers working at construction sites. The descriptive and correlational study was conducted with 411 workers in Kırşehir between December 2023 and April 2024. Data were collected using the Socio-demographic Survey Form, Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale II, and Health Perception Scale, which were developed by the researcher after reviewing the literature. Descriptive statistics, t-test, Mann Whitney U, and one-way analysis of variance were analyzed in SPSS 21.0 program. As a result of the analyses, the mean age of the workers was 38.81±8.156; the mean Health Perception Scale score was 46.74±7.012, and the mean Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale score was 127.93±10.740. In line with the findings, it was determined that the health perception and healthy lifestyle behaviors of the construction workers were at a moderate level, and it was concluded that this situation reveals the importance of planned initiatives to improve the health behaviors of the workers.
