Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effect of Cyclotrichium niveum (CN) extract on lipophilic vitamins and essential fatty acids in brain and kidney tissues of type-1 diabetic rats was investigated. In this study, 32 randomly selected adult female Wistar albino rats weighing 250-300 g were divided into 4 groups as 8 rats. Group 1; Control (K), Group 2; Diabetes (STZ), Group 3; Mountain Nanens (DN), Group 4; STZ + DN. The control group was fed a standard diet. Diabetes group (STZ) was given 55 mg / kg STZ. 55 mg / kg STZ + 4 ml / kg DN were given to the STZ + DN group oragastric. The DN group was allowed to infuse 20 g of dried CN plants in hot water (100 ml). 4 ml / kg was given oragastric. Alpha linolenic acid (18:3, n-3) decreased in all groups and increased in kidney compared to control group (p <0.001; p <0.01). Significant decrease in retinol of brain tissue was observed in all groups compared to the control group (p <0.001; p <0.01). A significant increase was detected in the STZ + DN group in the vitamin K2 group compared to the control group (p <0.001). Vitamin D3 amount was significantly decreased in STZ and DN groups when compared with control group (p <0.001, p <0.01). No statistically significant change was observed in the other groups (p> 0.05). Key Words: Diabetes; Cyclotrichium niveum; Fatty acids; ADEK vitamins; MDA.
