Investigation of class teachers' process skills in scope of a number of variables

Abstract (EN)

Objective of the investigator is to measure science process skills in scope of a number of variables (sex, age, number of years in service, type of the employed institution, graduation area) by using several scale type (interest, familiarity, conceptual knowledge, performance test). Target population of the study consists of class teachers working in private sector and MEB (National Education Ministry) in the year of 2014. Paradigm is 107 teachers selected among this population. Data gathering tools are BSB (Scientific Processes Skills) interest scale, BSB familiarity sale, BSB conceptual knowledge test and BSB performance test. Data gathered were analysed SPSS statistics software. Findings in the end of the analysis conducted are as follows: 1. BSB familiarity of teachers is high. There are no significant difference based on sex and number of years in service. Teachers in MEB compared to private sector teachers have more knowledge and familiarity. 2. BSB knowledge of teachers are scaled as medium. There are no significant difference based on sex, number of years, age, graduation and corporation in service. 3. BSB conceptual knowledge of teachers are scaled low. There are no significant difference based on sex and number of years in service. Teachers in MEB compared to private sector teachers, teachers older than 50 compared to other groups and graduates of class teaching field of education faculties compared to others have more conceptual knowledge. 4. BSB performance of teachers are high. There are no significant difference has been found on performance based on sex, number of years in service, age and graduation variables. Teachers in MEB has a higher performance compared to the teachers in private sector. 5. There is positive weak relation between conceptual knowledge and familiarity and performance and familiarity to BSB. Key Words: Class Teacher, Scientific Process Skills
