Effect of interleukin-1 beta (iL-1b) gene polymorphism with the development of h. pylori infection and treatment efficiency in Anbar – Iraq

The study focused on the involvement of the Interleukin 1-beta (IL-1β) polymorphism in the genesis and progression of inflammatory diseases. In this study, some of the demographic parameters were determined. The present study also determined polymorphism in the IL-1β (rs16944 and rs1143627) gene in the blood of Gastric cancer patients and control groups. The study period was from July 2021 to March 2022. In this case-control study, blood samples were collected from 60 Gastric cancer patients and 30 samples as a control group. The demographic characteristics of Gastric cancer patients for age there are insignificant differences between the groups (p = 0. 0519). For gender, there are significant differences between the groups (p = 0. 0263). Also, the percentage of non-smoking was lower (21.6%) than smoking patients (78.4%). The percentage of patients with Gastric cancer was higher (56.6%) than that with non- Gastric cancer (43.3 %). A higher percentage of patients haven't chemotherapy (91%) and have no family history of infection (98.3 %). The molecular investigations for the polymorphism of the IL-1β gene have been conducted through the PCR-RFLP technique for the SNPs (rs16944 and rs1143627). The results of IL-1β (rs16944) revealed that the homozygous wild type (TT) is more dominant (73%) in P30NR patients. Also insignificant differences between P30NR and controls (TC vs TT: OR=3.2, 95% CI0. 0.77 to 13.83, P=0. 106). significant differences between P30NR and controls in the C allele frequency (O.R(95% CI) = 3.09 (1.0695 to 8.9454), P=0. 037.
