Risk analysis in occupational health and safety: A case study in door manufacturing sector

Abstract (EN)

This study analyses the hazards and risks that could arise in terms of occupational health and safety in door manufacturing sector and investigates possible measures to be taken towards keeping these hazards and risks at an acceptable level. In addition, the purpose of this study is to serve as a base for those who will study occupational health and safety in door manufacturing sector and to contribute to the work done and to the job done by making risk analysis and thus, ensure economic productivity. Platform Furniture Industry and Trade Company in Amasya-Merzifon was chosen as the study area. Possible hazards and risks in door manufacturing was evaluated according to "L-type Matrix Risk Analysis" method. The hazards determined in risk analysis were undesired behaviors of the staff, that the staff did not use safety equipment in the working site, the lighting elements were not sufficient in certain units, the staff lacks the necessary education and that they are prone to working in noisy environment. And the risks, on the other hand, were injuries, becoming permanently disabled, cutting, smashing hands and other body parts, eye disorders and loss of hearing ability.
