Abstract (EN)

As a result of the Otrar incident in 1218, the Mongols had the opportunity to enter İslamic countries and get to know Muslims closely. With this event, the Mongols began to be influenced by Muslims. As a result of these interactions, the Mongols became Muslims. There are factors that make the Mongols adopt İslam. Examples of this are trade, the effects of Muslim women on their wives and the effects of Muslim statesmen. The fact that some points of the beliefs of Gök God and Şamazim were similar to the İslamic religion enabled them to adopt İslam. Therefore, in our thesis, we have investigated these similarities and as a result, we have examined the reasons for the fact that they are Muslim and the Mongols' acceptance of İslam. The Muslims were affected by the Mongols as well as the Muslims. In particular, the Sophians were influenced by the rituals of the shamans and influenced the Muslim people by using the tools and methods used in their rituals. Sophists have an important role in the acceptance of İslam by the Mongols. The Sophians went to the Mongolian regions and tried to spread İslam and succeeded in part. But İslam did not have a lasting effect on the Mongols. Because both the cultural aspect and the geography they live in are far from İslamic countries, the Mongols accepting İslam have led to their separation from İslam. Thus, İslam did not become widespread among the Mongols and even the Mongols who accepted İslam returned to their old religions. A different perspective has been brought to the thesis by examining whether the existence of similar points in the Qur'an and Hadiths of some articles of the Genghis Law, which are considered sacred by the Mongols, have an impact on the acceptance of İslam by the Mongols.
