Abstract (EN)

Our thesis named "Suicide and Euthanasia According to Islamic Law" consists of two main topics that examine the status of suicide and euthanasia according to Islamic law. In the first part, the meaning, causes and types of suicide are emphasized. Some concepts that are important in preventing suicide are discussed. Within the scope of the principle of protection of life, the value Islam attaches to human life is emphasized. According to Islamic law, the provision of suicide is revealed within the framework of verses and hadiths. The provision regarding the funeral prayer of the person who committed suicide is also discussed. Finally, the view of the monotheistic religions before Islam towards suicide is examined. In the second part, the concept of euthanasia and the types of euthanasia arising from practices are discussed in the same way. Different approaches to euthanasia are included in the study. The terms of the right to live and die is evaluated within the framework of the concept of right. Then, the responsibilities of the patient, patient relatives and medical officials in practices are mentioned. According to Islamic law, the legal status of euthanasia is revealed within the framework of verses and hadiths. Finally, the approaches of the monotheistic religions before Islam to euthanasia were examined in the study.
