The concept of "arsh" in İsmail Turan's testament of "Vücûhu't-Te'vîl fî Esrâri't-Tenzîl"

This study discusses handles the concept "Throne" in the commentary called Wujûhu't-Ta'wîl fî Asrâri't-Tanzîl by Ismail Turan which has been written in Arabic recently and the other related concepts. The study has been composed into three parts. In the first part of this study we have given some imformation about the life, works, teachers and students of Ismail Turan who is a scholar of Qur'anic Exegesis. In the second part the concepts 'muhkam' and 'mutashâbih' are studied. The meanings which are given to these concepts are discussed within the coherence of the Qur'anic exegesis method. In addition, the meanings given to these concepts by scholars of Qur'anic Exegesis, beginning from the first period up to the contemporary ones, are examined. In the third part, the 'Throne' as a concept the 'Throne' as a concept, which is one of the mutashâbih concepts and the main subject of our study and some related concepts are studied in the context of the commentary Wujûhu't-Ta'wîl fî Asrâri't-Tanzîl. While examining the concept Throne, besides İsmail Turan's opinions the classical Qur'anic commentaries are also mentioned. Thus, the differences between the interpretations are tried to be determined. We have seen that the author behaved sensitively while interpreting the Qur'an, firstly he quoted propounded opinions based on traditions, then presented the opinions of the preceding scholars and finally mentioned his own opinion within the expression "and we say…".
