Evaluation on pruning of urban trees in European side of İstanbul.

Pruning success and views of related groups are given. Terrain stage of the study took place on all the areas that have started to be pruned in 2006 and on, by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of Parks and Gardens. There are many areas that have urban trees which show similarities. Thus, sample areas picked from some streets, groves and square plantations areas. Some of these areas are Gülhane grove, Sultanahmet square, Millet Street, Dolmabahçe Street, Kenedy Street and Fevzipaşa Street. Techniques on sample areas were observed and data?s were gathered. Newly taken photos compared to old photos of these practices, which has taken from literature. Survey form was made based on comparison of archive photos of pre-pruning and post-pruning photos which were taken by me. Aim of the survey was to determine effects of pruning in consideration of sample trees; pruning needs, health, location and also environmental factors. Along with the survey, to gather insights about pruning applications, academicians and executives oral interviewed with interview questions. General conditions and needs of sample trees, which were pruned, were examined and solutions were tried to brought forward.Key Words : Urban trees, Pruning, Survey, Istanbul
