Research of botanical folk medicines used in Esenyurt district Istanbul province

Abstract (EN)
This study is made for the purpose of determining the usage of botanical folk medicines used between years 2013 and 2019 in Marmara region İstanbul province Esenyurt district. As a result of the research, it is determined that botanic taxon of 1 subspecie, 73 species, 69 kinds belonging to 35 families is used as folk medicine. It had been done surveys with local people (72 people ) and mostly used medical and aromatic plants is determined. According to local people survey research, it is determined that the most used medical and aromatic plants are Linden (Tilia cordata Mill.), Peppermint (Mentha x piperita L.), Rosehips (Rosa canina L.), Sage (Salvia officinalis L.), Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.), Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe), Gentian (Hypericum perforatum L.), Cherry (Prunus avium (L.) L.) Stem, Nettle (Urtica dioica L.), Melissa (Melissa officinalis L.). It is determined that survey attandents used medical and aromatic plants mostly as painkiller, expectorant, diuretic, constipation killer, antitussive, tranquilizer-sedative, digestive system disorders, respiratory disorders, sleep withdrawal and debilitative.
