Investigation of work accidents in fire departments Kocaeli fire fire example

Firefighting is one of the respected professions accepted nationally and internationally. People who practice this profession are called firefighters. In addition to responding to fires, firefighters perform many tasks such as saving lives, saving property and protecting the environment. Due to the risk of these tasks, work accidents are encountered, loss of life and temporary disability may occur. Trainings are organized to prevent workplace accidents, personal protective equipment is provided and a series of precautions are taken. However, accidents continue despite these precautions. This study was conducted on the examination of work accidents encountered in fire departments. This examination will be specific to Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality (KBB) Fire Department Presidency. Work accident reports will be examined and a conclusion will be reached. In the first section; historical development of occupational health and safety, definition of occupational health and safety, risk assessment, safety culture, occupational health and safety boards and trainings will be emphasized. In the second section; The structure and working system of the fire department, the structure and working system of Kocaeli Fire Department, the fire department personnel structure, the duties of firefighters, personal protective equipment used in fire departments, and in-service training will be examined. In the third section; the definition of occupational accidents, dangerous actions and situations, the causes and notification of occupational accidents will be discussed. In the fourth section; the hazards and risks in the firefighting profession will be defined, firefighter accidents experienced nationally and internationally will be examined, and occupational health and safety practices specific to NFPA 1500 will be discussed. In the fifth section; This is the section where the findings are presented. The ways in which occupational accidents occur will be explained in this section. In addition, statistical data will be presented according to the characteristics of the people who had the accident. In the sixth section; There will be a conclusion and evaluation section.
