TURGUT, K., Assessing the Effect of Super Slow Motion Strength Training to the Lower Extremity Strength and Anaerobic Capacity for the Volleyball players in Female. Dumlupınar University, Institute of Medical Sciences, Master's Thesis of Physical Education and Sports Department, Kütahya, 2018. This study aims to assess "the effect of super slow motion strength training to the lower extremity strength and anaerobic capacity for the volleyball players in female". 28 volleyball players are considered in total where 14 of them are named as experimental (average age 20,35±2,11) and 14 of them as control group (average age 21,1±0,41). Both groups practiced super slow motion (SSM) training and control group continued their routine training for eight weeks. Height of experiment group is measured as 171,286 ± 8,250 cm and control group as 169,429 ± 7,325 cm, weight of experimental group as 58.85±12,65 kg and control group as 61,44±8.54 kg. Weight, vertical bouncing and aerobic capacity for 6-30 sec wattbike ergobike are recorded in the first and last week of the eight week training period. In addition, strength value for vertical bounce, squat and chest press movements are recorded by use of a MYO test device. 1 maximum repetition (1MT) kg of participants' are determined for front arm, chest press, front shoulder press, lath pulling, leg press, back leg curl, leg opening, tiptoe rise movements. Experimental group attended to strength training for 1 maximum repetition (1MT) kg for the 50% 2 sec concentric and 4 sec eccentric in the first week. In the 2nd, 3rd and 4th weeks, intensity of load is increased by 5%. At the end of 4th week, 1 maximum repetition is determined and program for 5th and 6th week continued with the 70% of 1 maximum repetition (1MT) kg 3 sec concentric and 6 sec eccentric. In the last two weeks, load is increased to 80% and training is terminated. Trainings are executed on three days a week and lasted for eight weeks. Control group continued their routine training program during this period. SPSS 17 is used for data analysis. Repeated measures ANOVA is used to assess the time, group interaction effect and simple effect. To determine the appropriate test for the hypothesis tests, goodness of fit test for Normal Distribution is made and significance level is obtained as p<0,05. At the end of the study, a significant difference (p<0,05) for chest press' absolute strength (watt), chest press' velocity (cm/sec), squat vertical bounce velocity (cm/sec), average 6-30 sec wattbike anaerobic absolute strength (watt), and 6-30 sec wattbike anaerobic relative strength (wat/kg) is observed for the experimental group. However, no significant difference is determined for squat vertical bounce height (cm) and squat absolute strength (watt). When the participants are assessed based on group-measurement, chest press' absolute strength (watt), chest press' velocity (cm/sec) and average 30 sec wattbike anaerobic absolute strength (watt) a significant difference is determined in favor of experiment group. However, there is no significant difference for squat vertical bounce height (cm), squat absolute strength (watt), squat vertical bounce velocity (cm/sec), average 6 sec wattbike anaerobic absolute strength (watt) and 6-30 sec wattbike anaerobic relative strength (watt/kg). Results confirm that SMM strength training contributes anaerobic strength and vertical bounce velocity. Group-measurement effect of training has more influence on anaerobic absolute strength. Therefore, it is suggested to include SMM strength trainings for volleyball players. However, intensity of load should be determined so as to avoid injury for the players and concentric-eccentric duration should carefully be considered.
