This study aims to investigate gender society and its affect on woman based on Bourdieu's concept of symbolic violence. The differences of education and income levels, the attitudes of married women towards violence and the differences of thought among them were emphasized. At this point, gender roles and attitudes given are very important. First, the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu was emphasized and its concepts were explained. Next, violence and its types are defined and the concept of symbolic violence is included. Then, gender and gender roles were emphasized. Then, theories on genders and roles were emphasized. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were used for research purpose. In these methods, a total of 322 married women,161 of them have a job with graduated from universty, 161 of them are not working and graduated rom primary school applied a survey. A total of 32 married women have same attributes were interviewed, with 16 university graduates working and 16 primary school graduates not working. With help of data collected, it can be understood that symbolic violence was realized with the increase of material income and education level. Both groups are exposed to symbolic violence through their gender roles and attitudes, but women with a low level of education and material income are moreadapted and internalized this situation more than women with higher level in education and material income.
