Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the performance characteristics of magnesium lignosulfonate, an organic waste material on asphalt binder, released during the production of wood from paper. B50/70 penetration asphalt was modified by adding 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% Magnesium Lignosulfonate (MLS) to the asphalt weight. The morphological structure, modification mechanism and thermal decomposition temperatures of modified asphalt binders formed by addition of additive to asphalt were determined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), FT-IR and TG analysis, respectively. Penetration, Softening Point, Rotating Thin Film Aging (RTFOT), Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) and Rotary Viscometer (RV) tests were performed in the laboratory to determine the physical and rheological properties of the material. As a result of the experiments, it has been determined that organic based waste additive increased the asphalt consistency, wheel marking and short term aging resistance and decreased temperature sensitivity. According to the data obtained from the experiments, the best contribution rate which has the best effect on the performance characteristics of the asphalt binder was found to be 6%.
