Abstract (EN)

In the study titled "Characteristics of the Polytheistic Society Mentioned in Surah Al- Qalam," the character traits of the polytheist individuals—who are responsible for shirk, the violation, denial, and corruption of the concept of "tawhid," which is fundamental to Islam—are examined within the context of Surah Al-Qalam. Information about their moral condition has been provided. Surah Al-Qalam is significant as one of the earliest revealed surahs, reflecting the environment in which the revelation occurred. It offers important insights into the character traits that lead polytheists to deny the revelation and exhibit negative attitudes towards it. For this reason, the characteristics of the polytheistic society mentioned in Surah Al-Qalam have been identified and examined. Recognizing these traits is crucial for understanding and avoiding them, as behaviors, when repeated sufficiently, transform into character. One must carefully recognize each of the negative moral qualities and avoid them diligently, never considering any of them insignificant. Perceiving any of these traits as minor can lead to the emergence of another in our behavior and character. In this way, an individual paves the way for their own unfortunate fate. The study, being a thematic commentary that examines a chapter of the Qur'an from a specific perspective, has involved a review of both modern and classical commentaries. As a result of the research and analyses conducted, the characteristics of the polytheistic society mentioned in Surah Al-Qalam have been categorized into nineteen distinct points. It has also been observed that these points are interrelated with one another.
