Abstract (EN)

The Kalkım and Pazarköy basins, situated on the southern slopes of Mount Ida, they are geomorphological and hydrological basins that forms the upper reaches of the Kocaçay. Due to being an area where different geomorphological processes can be evaluated simultaneously, this area has been chosen as the area of study. The primary objective is to reveal the geomorphological characteristics of the basins and explain the processes that have shaped them. In this context, a comprehensive review of existing relevant literature has been conducted, 1:25,000 scale topographic maps were digitized via the ArcMap 10.8 program, and the data obtained regarding the basin were mapped. Moreover, the numerical data of the basins and their drainage network were calculated and interpreted with morphometric analysis methods. Tectonic movements and fluvial processes are the primary forces actively shaping the study area. In this tectonically overactive area, the western part of the basin rose due to tectonic movements that occurred in the Oligocene – Miocene period, whereas the middle of the basin collapsed. This situation led to the formation of Kalkım and Pazarköy depression hollows. The resulting slope and elevation differences caused the development of dense drainage networks within the basins and created an important factor in the shaping of the basins.
