Abstract (EN)

Thisstudyaims to examine the impact of public spending on economic growth in the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, ) during the 1987-2023 period, using panel data analysis.Thestudyconsists of four main sections. Following the introduction, the firstsectionexamines public spending within a conceptual framework, examining its definition, scope, classification, and economic impact. Inthiscontext, the reasons for the increase in spending and the factorsaffecting spending levelsareexplained. Furthermore, the relationship between public spending and economic growth is examinedwithin the framework of classical and modern perspectives, and the extent to which the stateshouldplay a role in economic life is examined.Thesecondsection of the studypresentsinformation on the relationship between public spending and economic growth, including the direction and nature of thisrelationship.Thethirdsectionexamines public spending in the BRICS countries. The fourthsectionanalyzes the relationship between public spending and economic growth in the BRICS countries (1987-2023) using a panel dataset. Relevanteconometrictestsareincluded, and the findings and conclusionsdrawn from the analysesareinterpreted. Differentapproachesprominent in the literature areevaluated.
