Examining Communication Skills and Self-Efficacy in a Public Institution: An Example of a Public Institution in Tunceli Province

Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study It was carried out to examine the relationship between communication skills and self-efficacy levels of the personnel of the provincial directorate of youth and sports in Tunceli province. With this purpose, answers were sought to the questions about the level of communication skills and self-efficacy levels of the participants, whether there is a significant difference between communication skills and self-efficacy levels according to the demographic characteristics of the participants and the level of relationship between them. In the research, the relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative researches, was used. In this model, it is a form of examination with randomly selected data from the universe to reach a conclusion. The sample group of this research consisted of 226 personnel working in Tunceli Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate. 'Personal Information Form', "Communication Skills Scale" and "General Self-Efficacy Scale" were used as data collection tools. SPSS 25 programme was used to analyse the data. The kurtosis and Skewness values of the collected data were examined and it was decided that they met the parametric test conditions. As a result of the study, the participants' communication skills and general self-efficacy perception are at a high level. It was determined that the participants' perceptions of communication skills and general self-efficacy did not create a significant difference in general self-efficacy and communication skills according to gender and marital status. It was determined that participants aged 18-29 and 30-35 had higher general self-efficacy perceptions than participants aged 36-41 and 42 and over. In the communication skills of the participants, it was determined that the communication skills of the participants in the 1-5, 6-10 and 11-15 years group were significantly higher than the 16 and over years working group. According to the educational level groups, it was determined that the general self-efficacy perceptions of the participants in the primary and secondary school graduates group were significantly lower than those in the high school, university and post-graduate graduates group. It was determined that the general self-efficacy perceptions of the participants who actively engaged in sports were significantly higher. A linear, positive, moderately significant relationship was determined between the participants' communication skills and general self-efficacy.
