Abstract (EN)

Public spaces in the urban space constitute the common living spaces of the society. These areas become attractive areas of socialization for the individual to the extent that they meet the need for safety and comfort within an aesthetic perception of the environment. Urban identity and public spaces that reflect the culture should be regulated by ergonomic design principles that will ensure the city's character in terms of dynamics such as socio-economic, quality of life and satisfaction of the citizens, to be competitive. In this study, the public spaces in Bartın city center were examined in terms of urban ergonomics by giving theoretical information and standards about public spaces, urban design, urban ergonomics, urban facilities and ergonomic urban facilities. A total of 100 questionnaires were conducted face to face with the selection and distribution of samples in accordance with scientific and statistical methods in order to determine user opinions about public spaces. The data obtained from the questionnaire prepared to determine the usage habits and the ergonomics of the users regarding the public places of Bartın were evaluated and reflected in the conclusions and recommendations.
