Abstract (EN)
The art constantly changing and developing with its dynamic structure has destroyed most taboos with its transforming structure, and as of the 20th century, it has begun to turn into a practice field, which is known as "white cube", from the idea that "art is watched from afar". This experience, combined with public space, has turned into public art, and has enabled art to evolve into experimental public art through studies where the public space is gradually experienced and transformed into a laboratory. The social environment that has changed over time since the beginning of the 21st century has increased the interest in public art and turned it into a social need. While the artistic activities in the public sphere diversified with the developing technology, access to these activities has become easier and art has become an indispensable part of public space. Especially since two thousand years, both process and result oriented public art activities gained a new momentum with experimental works such as pavilion and installation, and this has brought public art to another content. This study reveals the transformation of public art from the 20th century to the 21st century through experimental designs. In the study, interdisciplinary experimental public art products such as pavilions, installations and sculptures in the 21st century are evaluated based on prototyping and economic concerns as a result of their increasing numbers, questioning and discussing the experimentality of art by drawing attention to the problem of the numericalization of art.
