Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to examine the place, characteristics and effects of capitalism on matriarchal societies, with examples selected from different parts of the world, today, where capitalism-patriarchy cooperation is high. In the study, the case studies method, which is a qualitative research method, will be used and answers to the research questions will be sought through four matriarchal societies: Mosuo, Minangkabau, Tuareg and Bribri. The independent variable of the research is the capitalist patriarchal age, and the dependent variable is the place of matriarchal societies. As a result of the research, the existence of matriarchal societies in different parts of the world in the capitalist patriarchal age has been confirmed through four examples. Despite the effect of capitalism that subordinates women, it has been observed that women still continue to be the dominant actors in matriarchal societies and equality between women and men is ensured in these societies. The absence of violence, the almost non-existent competitive ambition created by capitalism, the existence of sexual equality, the fact that men are not oppressed under the domination of women have been the striking features of these societies. However, it is undeniable that capitalism and the gradual increase in technological developments create difficulties in preserving the traditions of matriarchal societies.
