Abstract (EN)
The primary purpose of the study is to determine undering personality characteristics of Karadeniz Tecnical University students according to Eysenck's theory. In addition to this main purpose, the investigation of average scores on Eysenck's Personality Inventory on the basis of some variabels and the differences among some groups are also undertaken. The sample of the study is recruited from the colleges of Art and Sciences, Forestry, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Architecture and Engineering, Sürmene Marine Sciences and Fatih Education Faculty and consists of approximately 650 students in regular education at KTÜ. The study is in descriptive and survey format. İnthis study, students' normatif distribitions are formed on basis of the scores obtianed on submeasures. Group diferences of different measures with variance analysis on nonparametric measures, X2 test was performed for the relationship among variance independent variables. The findings show parallelizm with earlier findings on Eysenck Personality measures in terms of parametric characteristics of the scores found in higher education population. The findings indicate that university students did not score high on psychotic, and neurotic tendencies, but come up with the evidence of extravertentedness tendencies. Some group differences were found in terms of colleges, sex, grade level, SED on some of the personality measures. Among the colleges students in College of Education were found to be more inclined to neurotisism. The other finding on colleges was that College of Economics and Business students on psychotisizm measure. The group differences of grade level were tested, and it revealed that sophtmores scored lessn on neurotisism than other students. In term of sex differences, there found to be a difference between femala and male students. Female students are more tend to be neurotic however male students seem to be more extraverted than females. VII
