Examination the case of school administrators' emotional workload i̇n terms of decision making process

The aim of this study is to examine the case of school administrators' emotional workload in terms of decision making process. We used mixed method in which qualitative and quantitative data are used together. The Control List of Emotions that is developed by the researcher is implemented on 129 school administrators working in Aksaray province for gathering quantitative data. Semi structured interview is carried out with 30 school administrators for getting qualitative data. Data are analysed through descriptive statistics and content analysis techniques. Based on the findings we conclude that school administrators' emotional workload is not the level at which they affect negatively on their working life. The findings indicate that the most experienced emotions are sympathy, attention, patience, trust and compassion. The based on the interviews with school administrators the findings display that happiness, joy, anxiety, sadness and despair are experienced frequently. At the end of the study we conclude that school administrators' emotional workload has a potential to affect their decision making process and to avoid harmfulness of emotional workload school administrators apply various strategic behaviours such as deferring decision, fleeting from environment, reasoning, sharing the situation with others. We do determine that there is no specific time, person or event leading emotions which can contribute their emotional workload.
