Abstract (EN)

Today's rapid population growth, the spread of irrigated agriculture and industrial development push the natural water system in quantity and quality. This necessitates a more conscious and systematic approach to water resource management, which integrates all legal, administrative, social, technical and economic activities that are related to water in an integrated manner. Although water is considered to be a group of uninhabitable natural resources on a global scale, it is a finite resource locally and regionally. In this study, sampling was carried out between December 2014 and November 2015 in order to evaluate the water quality, the pressures on water quality, and the using as drinking water of Karasu and Melendiz streams, and the Mamasın Dam Lake surface waters in Aksaray. Water samples were taken from the determined stations once a month. As a results of measurements in Karasu and Melendiz Stream, and Mamasın Dam, source of problem was determined as eutrophication in dam water used as source of drinking water of Aksaray. In contrast to dam water, waters of Karasu and Melendiz Streams were found suitable water as source of drinking water. As a solution, it was proposed that a storage reservoir should be built in front of the dam. Keywords: Aksaray, Water quality, Drinking water, Physical, Chemical
