Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to develop a new and economical electrode material which shows high catalytic activity in hydrogen gas formation by electrolysis of water. As the electrode material, a multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) was applied to the pencil graphite electrode (PGE) surface and Ni nanoparticles were deposited on this surface by electrodeposition method to obtain the MWCNT/Ni nanocomposite structure. The properties and chemical compositions of the electrode surfaces were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersion spectroscopy (EDS) techniques. The catalytic activities of the developed electrodes for the electrochemical hydrogen formation were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), Tafel polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques.
