Abstract (EN)
In this study, solid waste disposal technologies with respect of environmental sanitation and economical were investigated and the need of having the total solid waste decreased was emphasized. In Trabzon, it has been observed that a solid waste management system could not have been developed to solve the harmful effects of solid waste originated from residential areas, industry, slaughterhouses, and hospitals. It is also found that recyclable solid waste "separate at source point" is more advantageous than "separate at sanitary landfill". The approach of inhabitants of Trabzon to "separate at source point" was asked and a survey was carried out by employing a simple random sampling method on the issue. In the first chapter, solid waste sources in addition to disposal methods were presented and recyclable solid waste technologies were investigated. It has also gone through with Turkish Environmental Specification to obtain information related to recyclable solid waste disposal technologies. Studies associated with the subject performed in Turkey and in other countries were given. In the second chapter, information related to the applied methods and the material used in the studies carried out in Trabzon was presented. The third chapter contains the findings carried out on the recyclable solid waste composition obtained from a waste disposal area in Trabzon and the survey results performed on 400 residents. In the fourth chapter, the recyclable solid waste obtained from Trabzon was interpreted in respect to economical considerations and the survey findings were statistically evaluated. The fifth chapter includes the final conclusions obtained from the study and the comments associated with the solution. In Trabzon, it has been found that according to "separate at source point", a decrease in recyclable solid waste at about 16.89 % is possible. Based on the survey carried out, it has also been found that about 67.25 % of the residents of Trabzon may participate in the opinion of "separate at source point".Keywords: Solid waste disposal technology, environmental sanitation, solid waste management system, recyclable solid waste, separate at source point, sanitary landfill, simple random sampling method, separate at sanitary landfill, inhabitant.
