Özet (EN)

The increase in marine passenger and commercial traffic volume in the world necessitates the development of new methods and models for the design of competitive ships. Catamarans are widely used in the field of passenger and cargo transportation. Their design and hydrodynamic characteristics make them different compared to other types of ships. Determination of ship resistance, which is one of the basic concepts of hydrodynamics, is very important in terms of machine power selection at the design stage. The resistance created by the ship while moving through the water depends on many different factors such as the bow and stern form of the hull, the distance between the hulls, and created wave system. Determining and calculating these factors is almost impossible analytically. Therefore, model test or computational fluid dynamics method are used for resistance prediction today. In this thesis, the stern design of the double hull and its effect on the ship resistance will be discussed with the computational fluid dynamics method. In this study, the tunnel stern application, which is used for the use of large-size propellers for noise and vibration reduction, will be examined in terms of resistance by computational fluid dynamics method on double hull ships. Keywords: Catamaran, Resistance, Tunnel Stern, Computational Fluid Dynamics.
