Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of concept cartoons on 7th grade students? acquiring the concepts in ?The Structure and The Features of The Matter? unit. To reach this aim concept cartoons are developed, involving students? preconceptions and misconceptions about the concepts in the unit.The data of the research was collected via The Structure and The Features of The Matter?s Concept Test (M.C.T.) and semi-structured interviews. The sample of the research consisted of 49 grade 7 primary school students in total, 24 students in experimental group and 25 students in control group. M.C.T. prepared considering the misconceptions obtained via the outcome of viewing the literature is applied as a pre-test. And then, the unit ?The Structure and The Features of the Matter? with prepared concept cartoons is studied. At the end of the study, M.C.T. is applied to the students as a post-test.At the end of the research, it is ascertained that students have varied misconceptions about studied concept, some know the concepts of The Structure and The Features of the Matter at a level of knowledge, but are inadequate in applying them. As a result of analyzing the pre-test and post-test, it is ascertained that the application lessons the misconceptions on the structure and the features of the matter existing in students, doesn?t reveal new misconceptions and gets the students comprehend the subjects better.
