The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of concept cartoons and conceptual change tests on removing the secondary school 7th grade students` alternative concepts about The Solar System and Beyond: Space Puzzle Unit, achievements and attitudes towards astronomy. This study was carried out according to Quasi-Experimental Research Method. The sample of this study consists of 53 (N Experiment group 1= 31; N Experiment group 2=22) 7th grade students of a boarding secondary school located in the district of Van. In this study, "The Solar System and Beyond: Space Puzzle" Unit Achievement Test, "The Solar System and Beyond: Space Puzzle" unit concept cartoon test, astronomy attitude scale and interview about the Concept have been used as data collection tool. The descriptive analysis was used for the qualitative data analysis. The quantitative data was analyzed by the dependent t-test and the independent t-test with the SPSS 15.0. In this study, it is found that the concept cartoons are more effective than conceptual change texts on removal of students' alternative concepts. In conclusion, as distinct from this study it is suggested that the effectiveness of the concept cartoons and the conceptual change texts can be compared with a different data collection tools and more researches about comparison of the effects of different contemporary teaching methods in achievement, conceptual change and attitude on astronomy issues and concepts can be done.
