Abstract (EN)

The fact that most accidents occur at intersections makes intersection design and implementation principles very important. In general, faulty intersections need to be rearranged to prevent accidents caused by infrastructure deficiency and driver errors. In the study, the equal-level intersection designed by the 11th Regional Directorate of Highways and the different-level intersection designs designed by the 1st Regional Directorate of Highways and Gölcük Municipality were examined and a study was conducted on the improvements made in the designs of these intersections. A number of criteria were taken into consideration in intersection design improvements. These criteria were examined under the headings of the purpose of intersection arrangement, factors affecting the design and data required for design. Satellite images of intersection designs and plan, profile and type cross-section studies were explained, the effects of the studies on intersection design were mentioned, and evaluations were made by taking into account the advantages and disadvantages of the existing intersection and the revised intersections. Additionally, intersection design processes were mentioned with the microstation (Inroads) program. The findings obtained as a result of the study were evaluated and suggestions were presented.
